Benidorm is not like the rest of this coast: two Blue Flag beaches over two kilometres each, twenty-seven towers above a hundred metres, and a small old quarter surviving in the middle. It is 45 km from Alicante and 90 from Torrevieja, so it works well as a day out if you are staying further south.

The two beaches
Levante is the eastern one — the towers, the nightlife, the younger crowd. Poniente sits the other side of the castle rock and is calmer, favoured by Spanish visitors. Between them, at the point, is Mal Pas cove: small, sheltered and the best of the three for snorkelling.
Balcón del Mediterráneo
The viewpoint on the old castle ruins, right where the two bays divide. Both beaches at once and the island out in front. It is free, two minutes from the old quarter and the church of San Jaime.
Walking
Serra Gelada natural park starts at the far end of Levante. The climb to the Mirador de la Cruz is about 5 km from the promenade, close to three hours there and back, and you can drive most of the way. At sunset it is one of the best viewpoints in the province.
Getting here
45 minutes from Alicante by car, a bit over an hour on the TRAM along the coast. From Torrevieja it is 90 km, just over an hour on the AP-7. We also run transfers from the airports.
January: Benidorm Fest
In the last week of January Benidorm hosts the Benidorm Fest, the contest that picks the Spanish Eurovision entry, and the town hits around 90% hotel occupancy in the middle of low season. In 2027 it runs from 23 to 30 January. If you are coming for it, sort accommodation and transport before tickets go on sale, not after.

Can you see Benidorm in a day?
Yes, if you stick to the old quarter, the viewpoint and one of the beaches. The theme parks need a full day each.
Is it worth it with children?
Very. Between Aqualandia, Mundomar, Terra Natura and the island boat there is enough for several days.
