What the law allows without a licence
Spanish rules let you handle a boat of up to 15 hp and under 5 metres with no qualification, in daylight only and no more than two nautical miles from the coast. You must be over 18 and show a passport or ID card. Before leaving you sign the hire agreement and get a practical 15-minute briefing.
Where to go
South towards the coves of Cabo Cervera, Cala Ferris and Punta Prima, with rocky bottoms and good water for swimming off the boat. North along La Mata is more open and better on a calm day.
Frequently asked questions
Do I really not need a licence?
Correct, within the limits above: under 5 metres, up to 15 hp, daylight, two miles from shore. That is exactly what these boats are built for.
What if the weather turns?
If the port closes or conditions are unsafe, the hire is moved to another day or refunded in full.
