The sea off Torrevieja is flat most mornings, which makes it a forgiving place to start. We work from La Mata and Los Locos beaches, kit included and a qualified instructor on all lessons.

Groups are eight adults per instructor at most, six with under-18s. Hire includes board, paddle, leash and buoyancy aid.
Routes
The short route runs along Los Locos to Cala Ferris, stopping to swim and look at the rocky bottom. The La Mata route heads north along the natural park coast — fewer buildings, cleaner water. Sessions go out first thing in the morning or from 18:00, when the sun is off the water and the sea is glass.
What you should know
Most people are standing up within the first half hour. You need to be able to swim, and a buoyancy aid is compulsory on guided routes. Bring water-resistant sun cream: the reflection off the water burns faster than the beach does.
Frequently asked questions
Do you have to wear a buoyancy aid in a kayak?
On our sessions, yes — it is included and stays on from start to finish. In general a kayak counts as a floating device rather than a recreational vessel, so the standard boat safety kit does not apply, but a buoyancy aid is compulsory beyond two nautical miles from shore, on inland waters, in competition and on any guided activity. A 50 N buoyancy aid is the right kit for paddling: it leaves your arms free.
Is it suitable for children?
From 8 with an instructor, from 12 for free hire when accompanied.
What if I am out of my depth?
The routes run parallel to the shore and never more than 100 metres out.
